Divine Savior Healthcare is an organization that has been serving the healthcare needs of Portage, WI and the surrounding communities since 1917. In 2000, they opened a new Medical Center, housing Home Care, Community Health Education, Rehab Services, Occupational Health, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Diagnostics and Orthopedic Surgery. In late 2003, they opened the doors to a new, state-of-the-art hospital adjacent to the Medical Center.

Challenge
The old Web site began as an online brochure consisting of a few static HTML pages and was a perfect candidate for a redesign. The old site was not built to handle the volume of information relating to the new Medical Center and Hospital.

Solution
The first step was to reorganize the site content into logical, intuitive sections. I worked closely with Divine Savior staff and developed a plan for implementing both the new front-end design and the content management system on the back-end.

Features added included dynamically generated content, a content management system which allows Divine Savior staff to add or change the content on the entire site, a list of available job openings and a secure online employment application, password protected areas for physician and staff-only content and a dynamic event calendar.

The current site now includes over 125 pages and is managed entirely in-house by a single Divine Savior staff member. The redesign also conforms to both W3C and 508 accessibility standards.
